Hear stories of drownings, hangings, murder and disease on this atmospheric evening tour of Arnos Vale Cemetery - bring a torch, as the evenings are dark.
Have you ever walked around a cemetery or graveyard and thought 'I wonder how they died?' On this tour, you'll hear stories of drownings and hangings, murder and unfortunate accidents, a 'crinoline death', diseases of the past such as cholera and smallpox, childbirth complications and fatal childhood diseases.
The tour winds through the atmospheric grounds of Arnos Vale Cemetery as darkness falls, uncovering the darker side of Bristol's history among the memorials.
This tour is for ages 18 and over, is not suitable for children, and the route includes steep slopes, steps and uneven paths, so please bring a torch as the evenings are dark.
Evening dates in autumn 2026 run 7:30pm-9pm on Friday 9th and Saturday 31st October, with a special daytime tour also available on Saturday 31 October from 10am-11:30am.
