What’s On at Redgrave Theatre this Autumn

As the evenings draw in, Redgrave Theatre is preparing for a packed few months of comedy, music, theatre and family entertainment, culminating in a glittering festive pantomime.
October strikes the right note with a strong line-up of live music. Swing That Music with Down for the Count All-Stars brings the sounds of the swing era to the stage on 4 October, followed by The Opera Boys’ Farewell Tour on 6 October, featuring Britain’s Got Talent favourite Paul Potts. Later in the month, fans can relive the unmistakable sound of Phil Collins with In The Air Tonight on 22 October, celebrating hits from both his hugely successful solo career and his years with Genesis.
There’s glamour and laughter too, as the legendary Ceri Dupree brings Frock with Laughter to the stage on 10 October, promising fabulous costumes, comedy, songs and larger-than-life entertainment.
History fans can delve into the drama and scandal of the Tudor court with historian and broadcaster Tracy Borman on 13 October, while Wonders of Our Universe on 20 October takes audiences on a spectacular journey through the mysteries of the cosmos.
Comedy is a major part of October’s programme, with Matt Parker, Scott Bennett, Jason Byrne, Michael Spicer and Christopher Hall among those taking to the Redgrave stage. Irish comedian Neil Delamere arrives on 30 October with Reinventing The Neil, before The Comedy Store rounds off the month on 31 October.
Families are especially well served during October, There’s A Monster In Your Show on 3–4 October, The Giant Bubble Show on 18 October and a busy half-term programme featuring The Utterly Revolting Science Show, Fun For Little Ones: A Tribute To Ms Rachel, Frozen Sing-A-Long and the stage adaptation of much-loved children’s classic Dear Zoo.
For theatre and dance lovers, The Nutcracker arrives on 12 October, while National Theatre Live brings The Misanthrope to the screen on 29 October.
November continues with two very different highlights. Downhill mountain-biking star and two-time World Champion Danny Hart shares stories from his life and extraordinary racing career in Won’t Sit Down on 15 November. Then, from 21–28 November, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School presents Eloise, a magical family adventure filled with culinary curses, dastardly villains and memorable characters.
But December is when the Redgrave really gets into the festive spirit, as Dick Whittington sets sail for a purr-fect pantomime adventure from 4 December to 3 January. Expect bustling markets, stormy seas, shipwrecks and mysterious jungles, along with boo-worthy villains, jokes by the boatload, toe-tapping tunes and plenty of audience participation. Suitable for all and recommended for ages three and over, Dick Whittington promises a classic family pantomime and a suitably festive finale to the Redgrave’s year.
